Instructions for care and washing of clothes

INFORMATION ON THE CARE AND MAINTENANCE OF GARMENTS MADE WITH OUR YARNS

Advice and instructions for care and washing are always indicated on the labels and, for this  very reason, it is  necessary to make an initial distinction between handmade garments and those purchased in shops.

The latter are necessarily accompanied by the labels  provided by the manufacturing companies, with all the instructions on the composition, care and washing of the garment.

This  very short LanaOnline "instruction booklet" is  intended to be a simple and useful guide to answer the following questions that we often ask ourselves:

How to wash a knitted or crocheted item?

How to wash a wool garment?

What are the instructions to follow for the care of garments?

For handmade garments, which we at LanaOnline refer to, you must instead pay attention to the instructions  shown on the balls  or skeins, and rarely present on the garment itself.

On the band that wraps and distinguishes the balls, on the product sheet of all the yarns  we handle, the recommendations for care and washing are indicated, which vary according to the composition of the yarn itself.

Usually these tips  are represented with a series  of universally recognized symbols which we will talk about in depth later.

So how to behave with a handmade garment?

There are some general indications that are of great help.

As for woolen garments made with yarns labeled as "machine washable", they can be washed in the washing machine, always and only with the "wool" programme.

All other wool items should be hand washed or dry cleaned.

Also in this case it is better to use a delicate detergent without additives.

Ironing is  often to be avoided, especially for Merino wool garments which tend to sag: it should be done at very low temperatures and without direct contact.

We remind you that wool products, thanks to their antibacterial properties, do not need to be washed after each use. It is  often sufficient to leave the clothes to air outdoors

We attach a summary legend of the main washing symbols present on the bands of the balls or on your garments.
